VIDEO: Kishane Thompson clocks 9.80 men’s 100 Semifinals -2025 National Senior Championships

Kingston, Jamaica – The Men’s 100m 20+ SENIOR Semis at the JAAA National Junior & Senior Championships, held Friday, June 27, 2025, at 9:15 PM EDT, delivered an electrifying display of speed that reverberated globally.

Eight elite sprinters secured their spots in the highly anticipated final, showcasing incredible form. The advancement rule saw the top 3 from each heat automatically qualify, complemented by the next 2 fastest times.

Kishane Thompson (MVP Track & Field Club) headlined the night with a stunning 9.80 seconds in Heat 2 (wind: 0.4m/s). This marks the fastest time recorded in the world in 2025, pending official ratification. Hot on his heels was Oblique Seville (Racers Track & Field Club), who powered to 9.84 seconds in Heat 1 (wind: 0.5m/s), equaling the current world-leading time by Trayvon Bromell. Both Thompson and Seville’s performances met the World Championships qualification standard.

From Heat 1, Bryan Levell (Uptimum) also automatically qualified with an impressive 9.94 seconds, another World Championships standard. Rohan Watson (MVP Track & Field Club) followed, clinching the third automatic spot in Heat 1 with 10.00 seconds, also meeting the World Championships standard.

In Heat 2, Kadrian Goldson (Sprintec Track Club) and Ackeem Blake (Dynamic Speed Track Club) both clocked 10.05 seconds to secure automatic qualifications. Advancing by time were Ryiem Forde (Empire Athletics) and Bouwahjgie Nkrumie (Racers Track & Field Club), both running 10.06 seconds.

The stage is now set for a monumental Men’s 100m final.
