A formidable lineup of Jamaica’s fastest women fiercely competed for advancement, with 24 athletes securing their spots in the next round: the top 3 from each heat plus the next 6 fastest times.
Reigning world champion Shericka Jackson (MVP Track & Field Club) demonstrated her formidable form, posting the overall fastest time of 11.20 seconds from Heat 1.
Her teammates, the dynamic Tia Clayton (MVP Track & Field Club) with 11.21 seconds and Tina Clayton (MVP Track & Field Club) with 11.27 seconds, also showcased their speed, securing top qualifying positions.
A poignant moment unfolded with the stellar performance of the legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Nike), who qualified comfortably from Heat 3 with 11.33 seconds. Her appearance marks a significant occasion, as she recently announced this will be her final time competing at the National Championships.
