
Kingston, Jamaica – The legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Nike demonstrated her enduring class in Heat 3 of the Women’s 100m Senior Prelims at the JAAA National Junior & Senior Championships today. In a significant announcement this week, Fraser-Pryce confirmed that this would mark her final appearance competing at the National Championships.
Despite a challenging headwind of -2.1 M/S, Fraser-Pryce comfortably claimed the top spot with a time of 11.33 seconds, automatically advancing to the next round. Joining her as automatic qualifiers were Carleta Bernard from the University of Texas, finishing second in 11.47 seconds, and Kemba Nelson of Elite Performance Track Club, who secured third with 11.48 seconds.
Marissa Palmer (Georgia State University) also advanced by time, clocking 11.65 seconds, along with Shimayra Williams (Elite Performance Track Club) at 11.73 seconds, which was the bubble time for qualification. These athletes will now prepare for the demanding next stages of competition, aiming for a coveted spot in the finals and a chance to represent Jamaica.
