Clayton Twins Lead Dominant Charge as Women’s 100m Senior Semi-Finals Set Stage for Explosive Final

Kingston, Jamaica – The Women’s 100m 20+ SENIOR Semis delivered thrilling action at the JAAA National Junior & Senior Championships on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 8:55 PM EDT. Eight formidable sprinters have now secured their places in what promises to be an epic final, with the top 2 from each heat advancing automatically, joined by the next 2 fastest times.

Leading the charge with an impressive 10.86 seconds from Heat 2 (wind: 0.8m/s) was Tia Clayton (MVP Track & Field Club), who marked the fastest time of the semi-finals and achieved the World Championships qualification standard. Her twin sister, Tina Clayton (MVP Track & Field Club), also showcased her prowess, clocking 10.93 seconds from Heat 3 (wind: 0.2m/s) to secure her final spot and meet the World Championships standard.

Reigning world champion Shericka Jackson (MVP Track & Field Club) demonstrated her class, winning Heat 1 with a powerful 10.94 seconds (wind: 1.5m/s), also securing the World Championships qualification. The legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Nike), in her final National Championships appearance, smoothly qualified from Heat 2 with 11.02 seconds, also hitting the World Championships standard.

Other automatic qualifiers (Q) included Alana Reid (Nike, 11.02, World Champs Qual) from Heat 1, and Jodean Williams (Sprintec Track Club, 11.08) from Heat 3. Jonielle Smith (MVP Track & Field Club, 11.03q, World Champs Qual) and Ashanti Moore (Sprintec Track Club, 11.08q) advanced by time, completing the stellar line-up for the final.
